Health Kick Weight Loss Meal Plan: Week 3 Article

Monday
Breakfast
Two wheat breakfast biscuits topped with ½ cup skim milk and 5 strawberries
Morning Tea
250ml latte made with skim milk
Lunch
1 medium sized potato in its jacket cooked in the microwave and topped with 1 cup of coleslaw made with a low fat coleslaw dressing
Afternoon Tea
1 apple
Dinner
Make a healthy chicken parmigiana by grilling 100g skinless chicken fillet, then topping the fillet with 2 tablespoons  tomato paste, baby spinach leaves and ¼ cup of grated reduced fat cheese. Bake in the oven until the cheese has melted.  Serve with 1 ½ cups of steamed vegetables such as squash, beans and carrots.

Tuesday
Breakfast

Quarter cup of rolled oats and ¼ cup of processed wheat bran topped with ½ cup skim milk and ½ grated apple
Morning Tea
1 punnet of cherry tomatoes
Lunch
1 wholegrain sandwich made with 60g lean ham, 1 slice reduced fat cheese, and sliced tomato toasted in a non-stick sandwich press
Afternoon Tea
Banana smoothie made with half a cup of low fat milk, 100g low fat natural yoghurt and 1 small banana
Dinner
100g white fish fillet baked in the oven and served on a bed of 1 cup couscous and topped with a salsa (finely diced tomato and red onion with lemon juice) and 1 teaspoon tzatziki


Wednesday
Breakfast
Half a cup of natural untoasted muesli with 1 cup no fat natural yoghurt and a handful of blueberries
Morning Tea
30g of mixed nuts and dried fruit
Lunch
Make a salad using 1 cup of baby spinach leaves, beetroot, 1 tbsp pine nuts and 40g of feta cheese and 2 wholegrain dry biscuits
Afternoon Tea
1 kiwifruit
Dinner
Make hamburger patties using 350g lean mince beef, 2 small zucchinis grated, 1 large carrot grated, 1 large green apple grated, bread crumbs made from 3 slices wholemeal bread, 1 teaspoon dried mixed herbs, ½ cup chopped parsley and 1 beaten egg.  Mix all ingredients together and form 6 patties. Grill 1 patty and serve in a wholegrain bun with onion, slices of tomato, lettuce leaves and a tablespoon of tomato sauce or relish. Freeze remaining patties for a later date.
